History of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Translated from the original and unpublished MS. of Professor Petit, by Charles de Flandre, F.S.A. Scot. 2 Volume Set, complete.

Published by Longmans, Green, & Co., London, 1874. Note; Books are dated 1873 to spine, in line with Translator's Preface of October, 1873, but actual publication date is 1874, as per title page.

A pair of substantial chestnut brown cloth hardbacks, with gilt armorial of Mary Queen of Scots to front of each volume. Blind embossed borders, and gilt titles to spine. Covers are worn and rubbed, with scuffs and marks, and some frayed areas to spine uprights. Rear covers are more heavily marked and the cover of Volume I has significant staining, not affecting the interior. Some give in the spines, with cracked endpapers. Some offsetting to free endpapers.

Text is bright and clean throughout, with occasional small flaws. The top edge of the first few pages of Chapter 1 have some dark toning along the top of the page. Good reading copies, with imperfect bindings, but an uncommon and interesting set, nonetheless.

Text in English.
