Ionica, by William Cory, with Biographical introduction and notes by Arthur C. Benson, Fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge. The author was known as William Johnson until 1872, when he assumed the surname Cory.

A classic collection of poetry by Eton schoolmaster, William Johnson/Cory. This is a collected edition of his poems previously published in 1858 and 1877, and the issued as a first collective edition in 1891.

Published by George Allen under their Sesame Library imprint, London. Undated, but believed to be c. 1915.

A good blue cloth hardback of this scarce edition, with gilt title to spine. Spine a bit faded, but otherwise very good.

Text is bright and clean throughout. Endpapers with some offset discoloration and remains of previous owner's details to first free endpaper. An uncommon edition.
