The Jazz Book Club was a publishing project of Sidgwick & Jackson publishers, from London, which resulted in sixty-six works being published between 1956 to 1967. This volume features a study of the development of jazz, styles of jazz, key jazz musicians, and elements of the music.

Published by The Jazz Book Club, London, by arrangement with Peter Owen, London, 1965. First edition thus, but originally published by Peter Owen Ltd.

A near fine brown cloth hardback with printed title design to spine. Cover crisp and clean. With a very good original dustjacket, with spine and top edges just a little discolored, and with wear to head and tail of spine. Dustjacket flap still has the membership slip attached. Covered in removable protective plastic. Soundly bound.

Text is bright and clean with some very light spotting to edge of text block. A nice example.
