Important and very scarce 2 volume set detailing French commerce of the period. The volumes cover modern geography, a dictionary containing useful information on 1,000 cities and places, an essential dictionary of commercial terms, and many tables and facts of all aspects of trade with detailed tables of information on commodities such as grains, gold, diamonds and the slave trade.
There is a table of the slave cargo of the ship, the St Andrew.
Overall a good set, but with substantial wear and damages (see photographs).
The 2 volumes are both bound in contemporary speckled calf, and although not an exact match, this is presumably as issued. Both volumes are signed by the author on title page.
