A complete set of James Fenimore Cooper's frontier novels set in the 18th Century known as the 'Leatherstocking Tales', primarily set in the former Iroquois areas of New York. 'Leatherstocking' was the name given to the central character, Natty Bumppo, by European-American settlers in the tales. The novels were first published between 1827 and 1841, with the narrative spanning the time-frame of 1740-1804.

A good minus set of hardbacks with leather spines and corners, with marbled paper over boards, raised bands and gilt morocco labels to spine. Covers worn, bumped and rubbed, and boards worn to edges. Spines darkened, and two of the volumes with some glued leather repairs to the spines. 

Text is rather age-toned and there is cracking to gutter in places, but all still bound. Marbled edges to text block. Each volume with guarded frontispiece. Imperfect, but an acceptable reading set.
