Lo Impero Cinese, 1st Italian edition 1845, by Clemente Pelle, translated by Guglielmo Villarosa. Also titled as L'Impero Cinese.

Lo Impero Cinese Illustrato, ovvero Descrizione de Costumi, Degli Usi, Dell Architettura, Della Religione e Della Industria del Popolo Cinese Da Tempi Piu Remoti Fino a Nostri Giorni di Clente Pelle, Autore di Constantinopoli Antica e Moderna e di Una Novella Storia D'Inghilterra. Prima Versione Italiana, Di Guglielmo Villarosa.

Published Napoli, Stabiilimento Tipografico di Gaetano Nobile, 1845.

Very scarce Italian printing - no copies listed at all on Worldcat or COPAC. Appears to have been a Spanish printing in the same year.

Hardback with cloth spine and marbled boards. Very good overall. Binding is sound and text is near fine overall - some mild spotting and age discoloration but really a nice clean copy.

Some cracking to pastedown joints, but binding completely sound. Ex-library copy - Franciscan Monastery in Washington DC, so not publicly lent. Minimal library marking - ink stamps to title page, first free endpaper and ink catalogue number to spine, but that's all. Some shelfwear to covers. Please see photographs.

xc + 158pp + 44pp Appendix.

Dimensions: 247mm high x 175mm wide x 25mm deep.
