By James Fenimore Cooper (although not credited on the title page, but credited on the spine labels). In three volumes complete. This novel has also been known as Vulcan's Peak.

 
Published by Richard Bentley, London 1847. First UK edition. Original binding. Believed to be published before the American edition of the same year.

A novel set in the Pacific, using the writer's knowledge of his time in the Merchant and US Navy. A tale of a Utopia facing decline through political strife. His most famous novel was The Last of the Mohicans.

A good set of hardbacks. Covers are paper boards with printed cloth spines and title labels. Labels are heavily worn with losses. Boards are soiled, rubbed and bumped. Text blocks are very good throughout occasional spotting and with some uncut pages (as issued). Very Scarce.
