Novum Testamentum, Published by R. Urie in Glasgow, sold by J. Barry, 1750, Greek text
This Ancient Greek translation of The New Testament is very smart indeed. Rebound in beautifully decorated full polished calf. The binding mimics an 18th Century publication and has been done prior to 1958, as the previous owner has a 1958 inscription to the first pastedown. a most handsome binding. The text is elegantly set.
Novum Testamentum, In Aedibus R. Urie, Glasuae. Prostant venales apud J. Barry Bibliopolam. 1750.
Previous owner's inscription in ink to first pastedown and in pencil to first free blank endpaper, where she notes that this is a 'Stephanus Received Text'.
A near fine copy of this work. The calf leather covers are beautiful with raised bands rounding the outer joint, mimicking a binding system. With attractive incised decoration to spine. Gilt title on a black morocco label - not entirely uniform as it is hand-lettered.
Mild offsetting to margins of endpapers. Text is bright and clean throughout with only occasional light scattered age spots. Very occasional marginal pencil annotation. A handsome addition to any library.
Single page 'Lectoris' in Latin, with all remaining in Ancient Greek.
