The first published Transactions are actually for the 1903-04 Session, but this was actually the first such published Transactions, and all 5 issues in this Volume form a complete Volume I.
Published by the Old Glasgow Club. Printed by Aird & Coghill, Ltd, Glasgow 1908. First edition thus. A rare collection of the very first issues of these Transactions, particularly as a bound hardback volume.
A very good hardback with black leather spine and corners, with raised bands, morocco title label with gilt. With gilt Club motif to front cover. Blue cloth over boards. Marbled edges to text block. The leather is rubbed and worn, and losing colour intensity in places, but binding is secure, with endpapers intact at inner hinges.
Previous owner's signature to first free endpaper (John Bell - shows up in the Members lists from the 1907-08 Transactions).
The text is in very good condition throughout, and is bright and clean, with plates clear and well presented. There is only the very occasional marginal spot. Minor faults are some very minor pencil annotations, and on the blank rear leaf of the 1905-06 transactions there are the remnants of some tape removal marks. Illustrated with black and white plates and some line diagrams. Front cover of each transactions section is printed on coloured paper, and also incorporates red ink.
The contents of this book on Glasgow history are very well preserved.
