An original British Post Office Telegram sent by Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965) to A. L. Ball, manager of the Pall Mall branch of Lloyds Bank and Churchill's personal bank manager., thanking him for his good wishes.

Sent from Knightsbridge and postmarked Tunbridge Wells, 1 December 1961, the Telegram almost certainly acknowledges birthday greetings sent to Churchill, who had celebrated his 87th birthday on 30 November, the previous day. Churchill was accustomed to receiving a considerable volume of birthday correspondence and telegrams, and this brief personal acknowledgement provides an appealing piece of ephemera from the final years of his life.

The Telegram is addressed to "A L BALL ESQ, 64A MOUNT EPHRAIM, TUNBRIDGE WELLS" and reads: "THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR GOOD WISHES - WINSTON S CHURCHILL". The original transmission strip records its origin as Knightsbridge and the time as 5.55, with the instruction "OVERNIGHT".

In very good condition, with some light age-toning, and one small 1cm marginal closed tear to the right edge.

Dimensions: approximately 120mm high x 182mm wide.
