Scenes in the Life of Our Lord, Harold Copping & Handley C.G. Moule, c. 1907

Scenes in the Life of Our Lord; Drawn by Harold Copping, Described by Handley C.G. Moule D.D., Bishop of Durham, with a Preface by The Rev. A.R. Buckland M.A. c. 1907.

Published by The Religious Tract Society, London. Undated but c. 1907 (introduction is dated to 1907). Presumed First edition.

Large folio size - cream cloth hardback with gilt. Fair condition overall.

This large book with its pages of different thicknesses - text pages, tissue guards and the thick mounting pages for the plates required a much higher quality binding than as issued, so pages are becoming increasingly disbound, and will continue to do so unless repair is undertaken.

The cover is a bit soiled and scuffed. Webbing showing after first free endpaper. Endpapers are spotted. Diagonal tear to top corner of title page. Text is good throughout with some spotting. Previous owner's inscription, dated to 1911, on the preliminary title page.

Printed on thick ivory paper. the book consists of a series of religious spreads with text on one side and a colour printed image mounted to an indented green card facing it, protected with printed tissue guard. Some occasional creasing and slight damage to tissue guards. Binding is a bit cracked, so some pages and plates are now loose.

Scarce - JISC Library Hub shows only 7 holding libraries.
