This interesting set comprises a text volume and a matching box resembling a book, which contains 10 full colour First World War battle maps, each with linen backing.

Sir Douglas Haig's Despatches (December 1915 - April 1919). Edited by Lieut.-Colonel J.H. Boraston, O.B.E. (Private Secretary to Earl Haig). With Specially Prepared Maps, Sketch Plans & Portraits.

Published by J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd., London & Toronto, and E.P. Dutton & Co., New York. Printed by The Temple Press, Letchworth, England. 1919 first edition, first impression.

In good condition overall  - the book volume and map box covered in maroon cloth with gilt armorial to front and titles to spine. Covers with some sun marks, light wear, and some crinkling to cloth in places.

The text pages have foxed spotting to text block edges with scattered foxing throughout, but text remains clear and legible. 2 leaves with edge tears with marginal losses. Previous owner's inscription, dated to 1919, to blank free endpaper.

The map box has a hinged opening flap with ribbon handle (still present, although frayed). The maps themselves are generally very good indeed. Map 1, when folded, has some spotting to front facing blanks and some nibbles to edge, but overall maps are intact, bright and clean with just a few light spots to blank side and folded edges. All maps are present, as collated with Index.
