First published in 1909, The Arts & Crafts of Ancient Egypt is a classic work by the renowned archaeologist and Egyptologist William Matthew Flinders Petrie, one of the founding figures of modern archaeological method. Drawing upon decades of excavation and research, Petrie explores the artistic achievements, craftsmanship, and material culture of ancient Egypt, examining subjects ranging from sculpture, metalwork, and jewellery to pottery, furniture, and decorative arts. Written for both scholars and general readers, the work helped foster a greater appreciation of Egyptian civilisation beyond its monuments and royal tombs, highlighting the skill and ingenuity of its craftsmen. Richly illustrated and highly influential, this first edition remains an important early study of the artistic and technological accomplishments of one of the world's oldest civilisations.
