Published by A.H. Payne, Leipsic (Leipzig) and Dresden, and J. Hagger, London. Undated, but from general appearance c. 1860. This is an uncommon edition with the hand coloured plates.

A substantial volume with 32 very impressive hand coloured steel engraved plates throughout the book, and also with coloured frontispiece/title spread, and also with hand coloured initials.

A good hardback with black leather calf spine and corners with gilt. Boards rubbed and scuffed. Raised bands and gilt to spine with red morocco label. Inner joints are split, but all still bound. Marbled edges to text block, now age toned.

Text pages and plates are good throughout. Generally bright with some mild foxing to extremities. Occasional minor page flaw such as closed tear to edge, or black finger marks.

An impressive publication.
