The Life of Sir Isaac Newton by Sir David Brewster is one of the classic nineteenth century biographies of Newton and the first substantial life of the scientist written by a fellow man of science. Published in 1831 as No. XXIV of John Murray's popular Family Library series, Brewster's work combines a vivid account of Newton's life with accessible explanations of his discoveries and enduring influence. Written by the distinguished physicist, inventor and historian of science Sir David Brewster, it helped shape the Victorian understanding of Newton and remained an authoritative account for many decades.
