A very good full leather hardback with blind stamped decorative panels to covers, with the front bearing a gilt Queen Victoria armorial. With prize presentation plate to first pastedown from Glasgow School of Art. Prize for 'Success in the Advanced Section of the Course of Instruction in Art'. The recipient being 'William Pratt', in 1872.

Provenance: William Pratt studied at Glasgow School of Art and Academie Julien. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Paris Salon Royal Academy, and the Royal Scottish Academy, amongst others. He was a talented and highly respected artist, particularly known for his scenes of country life.

Covers with light scuffing, and mild wear and bumping to extremities. A handsome book. Soundly bound. Feathered marble endpapers. Some mild offsetting opposite plates. Text is bright and clean throughout, and all edges of text block are finished in red. Occasional minor corner crease.
