A good blue cloth edition in 2 Volumes, of Gilbert White's 'Natural History of Selborne'. White (1720-1793) was a pioneering English naturalist and man of the Church. He was highly respected, and an influential figure in the way he studied living creatures in their environment, and noting the seasonal changes throughout the year. His work on Selborne has been in continuous print, in a multitude of different editions, since its first publication in 1789.

A good blue cloth hardback in original Publisher's cloth, which has been rebacked with replacement blue cloth spine. Spine faded and frayed. Covers with some bumping and shelf wear. Soundly bound. Bookplate of 'Thomas Best' to first pastedown in each volume. Some spotting and offsetting to half title and title pages. A few small ink spots to title page of Vol. I.
Text is bright and clean throughout. All plates and illustrations as called for. In addition to illustrations and 2 standard plates in each volume, Vol. I has one folding plate, and Vol II with one folding plates and one colour plate.
