First published in 1935 by Victor Gollancz, The Nature of Capitalist Crisis is John Strachey's influential Marxist analysis of the structural weaknesses within modern capitalism. Written in the shadow of the Great Depression, the book examines cycles of boom and slump, mass unemployment, and the concentration of wealth, arguing that economic crisis is not accidental but inherent to the capitalist system itself. Clear, forceful and rooted in the political debates of the inter-war years, this first edition represents an important contribution to British socialist thought and reflects Strachey's position as one of the leading left-wing intellectual voices of the 1930s.

A smart copy of this hardback which has been more recently rebound with leather spine and corners with raised bands, gilt decoration and morocco title label. Boards covered with marbled paper. Covers with light wear. A small sticker removal mark to lower front cover and staining to tail of spine, but still attractive and soundly bound.

Text is generally very good throughout, with some light water marks to the first few pages, but otherwise clean and bright. Approximately 5 spreads with some neat pink pencil underlines and notes. Occasional light spotting. With page marker ribbon.
