Published by George Routledge and Sons, London and New York. First edition thus. "Two hundred and fifty copies of this Edition of Henry Fielding's Novels have been printed for sale in Europe, and one hundred and fifty for sale in the United States of America." This is hand numbered No. 327 (all copies matching). Printed by William Clowes and Sons Limited, London and Beccles.
A near fine set of attractive hardback volumes which have been bound in a later blue grained morocco spine and marbled paper over boards. With light wear. Spines with some sunning/discoloration. All securely bound. All joints and hinges completely intact and sound.
Printed on a high quality paper stock. Text is clean and bright throughout. Fore edge and lower edge are rough cut (as issued). The books look unread - some volumes still have uncut top edges to the text.
Some occasional offsetting to free endpaper/half-title. Volume III has a portrait of Henry Fielding with a tissue guard which is discolored and with some offsetting. A little dust-toning to rough cut edges. A lovely set for any library of these classic works.
