A very scarce volume indeed. Half leather with burgundy leather spine and cloth over boards with gilt decoration.

This copy is rather shaken and binding is loose. Good condition overall in terms of content, as all is present, but would certainly benefit by being professionally rebound in its original bindings. Nonetheless this very difficult to find volume features excellent early photography. Text and photographs are very clean on the whole but extremities are darkened. A couple of related newspaper illustrations have pasted onto relevant pages. Occasional annotations. 289pp + plates. Few copies of this ever seem to come up for sale. This copy carries the bookplate of William Conal, who can be found in the original subscriber's list in this book.

This splendid study features 100 houses located in Glasgow and surrounding area, many of which were already in decay or had disappeared at the time of this publication. Each house is described in some detail, providing information on the primary families associated with the house and with the architectural detailing and physical history of the house itself.
