This set is bound as 5 Divisions, which comprise 2 Volumes overall. Each book is bound in blue cloth with elaborate gilt design. Each Division features the Plates collated at the beginning of each Division, mostly with guards. There are 6 per Division, mainly portraits, comprising 30 in total, as called for.

Overall a good set. All books are soundly bound and the text is predominantly bright and clean with an occasional age spot or previous owner's pencil mark. Plates are also bright and clean with mild foxing verso. Crisp gilt edge to text block. 

Generally covers are bright with mild rubbing and bumping and wear to extremities. The set's main flaws are: 

Div I: Front cover is damp stained and crinkled to top right corner with damage to cloth. This affects the top corner of the first few pages inside. With some light staining and crinkling to rear endpapers. A few small marks and bumps to rear cover.

Div IV: Some soiling marks to front and rear cover.

Despite these flaws, a very presentable, and readable set, with very good content.

Div I: Vol. 1: 1-240pp + Plates.

Div II: 241-480pp + Plates.

Div III: 481-600pp + Plates, followed by beginning of Vol. 2; 1-120pp.

Div IV: Includes the Vol 2 title page. 121-360pp + Plates.

Div V: 361-590pp + Plates. Volume 2 ends. Followed by 591-598pp Index to both volumes, then 1pp List of Plates to both volumes.
