A good complete set of McCaulay's Works in 8 Volumes. Full leather binding with signs of shelf wear and bumping to extremities. Polished speckled calf with gilt decor. Raised bands and 2 lettering compartments. Marbled endpapers and marbled text block edges, with bookplate of Charles Heaton Hinde in each volume. Text pages are nice and clean throughout with only light occasional spotting.
Binding is generally sound with some cracking to joints. Leather is showing its age. 2 detached pages at the beginning of Volume 6. Volume 7 - cover detached at front and spine but still held at rear, but the cover set is all still attached together.
A scarce set.
Dimensions: 8vo. each volume approx. 222mm high x 157mm wide. A very heavy set overall weighing almost 10kg.
