Walks in Rome, by Augustus J.C. Hare, in Two Volumes (complete).
Augustus John Cuthbert Hare (1834-1903) was a prolific Victorian author of travel guides and memoirs, best remembered for his evocative accounts of European cities. Walks in Rome is among his most popular works, blending practical guidance for the traveller with art-historical, archaeological, and literary commentary. First published in 1871, the book went through many editions and became a standard English-language guide to Rome for the late 19th century.
