Provenance: from the library of Sir John Lubbock (1834-1913, 1st Baron Avebury, 4th Baronet), an English banker, politician, philanthropist, scientist and polymath. An important figure in the world of archaeology and who coined the terms "Paleolithic" and "Neolithic". His bookplate to first pastedown.

Published by Kegan Paul, Trench & Co, London 1885. First edition. Uncommon.

A very good dark teal cloth hardback, with gilt design. Minor rubbing and bumping.

Text is bright and clean and soundly bound. 2cm vertical tear to top of preface page, not affecting text.
