A very attractive full leather volume, copiously illustrated with wood engravings, exploring the area along the picturesque shores of the county of Fife in Scotland.

The Shores of Fife, by William Ballingall. Also carries an expanded title which heads up the list of illustrations:

The Shores of Fife: With Views in Perth, Forfar, Clackmannan, Kinross, Stirling, and the Lothians. Comprising some of the most picturesque and historical scenes, ruins, and objects of interest in Scotland.

Published by William Ballingall and Edmonston and Douglas of Edinburgh; Hamilton, Adams, and Co., London; Macmillan and Co., of Cambridge; and James Maclehose of Glasgow. Printed by T. and A. Constable. First edition, 1872. Appears to be a Subscriber's edition, with the List of Subscribers included on the last 3 pages at the rear of the book. Quite a luxurious publication, and now very scarce to find as a first edition.

A very good full grained red leather morocco cover with gilt decoration and raised bands. With light scuffing and bumping. Soundly bound, although front endpapers cracked at gutter. With gilt dentelles to inner covers and shiny gilt edges to text block. Some scuffing and a few marks to front endpapers.

Text is in fine condition throughout and presents beautifully. Just occasional light scattered spotting to the rear of plates, and occasional thumb mark to page corner. Small top edge tear near gutter to tissue guard. A handsome volume with beautiful illustrations.

Text in English.
