Flowers of the Holy Land - Christian Pilgrimage Souvenir Book of Pressed Flowers, 1898

A very attractive book of pressed flower designs mounted in an album covered with olive tree boards, with the printed title ''Jerusalem' and craved cross design. Such books would have been purchased by Christian pilgrims as a souvenir fof their trip to the Holy Land. Each page in the book carries an artistically laid out tableaux of pressed flowers. This particular album contains 18 flower designs (whilst more common books typically have 12).

The book carries a previous owner's gift inscription dated to May 1898.

In very good condition overall. The olive tree boards are affixed to a burgundy leather covered board, with the spine being leather with gilt title. With some shelf wear and rubbing.

The book contains 18 tissue guarded leaves of pressed flower designs - each captioned with their origin. Pages and guards with some age toning. Overall a well presented volume.
