From Emperor to Citizen; The Autobiography of Aisin-Gioro Pu Yi, 2 Volume set, complete.

Published by Foreign Languages Press, Beijing. Third printing, 1986 (the first being in 1965). The personal story of China's 'Last Emperor' from the final days of the Qing court, to plans to restore the monarchy, his role as Japanese imperialists' 'puppet', his time as Emperor of Manchukuo, coming into the hands of the Chinese People's Government, his 're-education', and finally life as an ordinary citizen of the People's China.

A very good set of blue silk hardbacks with gilt design. Dustjackets are also very good - fully intact, but with fading to spine.

The text is bright and clean throughout. The only flaw is just before the title page of Volume One, where the joint is split to webbing, which weakens the binding in that volume. Each volume with red ribbon. However, the set remains a fascinating account of the Last Emperor's life.

Text in English.

Vol. One: 247pp + 1pp + 12pp Plates.

Vol. Two: 248-496pp + 16pp Plates.

Weight approximately 825g (the set - unpacked).

Dimensions:

Each volume approximately 207mm high x 148mm wide x 20mm deep.
