The Mountain is Young, by Han Suyin (韓素音).
Han Suyin was the pen name of Rosalie Matilda Kuanghu Chou (周光瑚), c. 1917-2012. She was a physician and author and was born in China to Belgian/Chinese parents. This was her fourth novel, a love story set in Nepal. It was based on her own experiences when she was invited to the coronation of the King of Nepal in 1956, and she endeavours to provide an accurate picture of life in Nepal at that time.
Published by Jonathan Cape's 'The Book Club', London, 1958. First edition.
A good blue cloth hardback with printed titles to spine. Some rubbing and wear. With a good original dustjacket, with some taped repairs and nibbled edges. With age toning, and sunning to spine. Housed in removable protective plastic. Also with a newspaper cutting from 2011 featuring the marriage of the King of Bhutan, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchcuk, and his bride, Jetsun Pema.
Text is bright and clean with some offset toning to first and last few pages. Some spotting to top edge.
