The book provides a narrative of the author's travels, serving as a surgeon on the S.S. "Clytemnestra", sailing from Liverpool to Port Said, and across the Indian Ocean visiting Pinang, Japan, Java, Macassar, Samarang and Batavia.
A very good blue cloth hardback with gilt sailing motif to front cover. Some mild wear and a few marks and bumping to head and tail of spine. Dustjacket in protective plastic.
Text is bright and clean and soundly bound. An interesting read, well illustrated with travel photographs from a different age.
