This silk bound slipcase houses 2 volumes of these wonderful woodblock prints, bound by traditional clasps. They are printed using the Dou Ban and Gong Hua methods, producing fine watercolour woodblock prints - the effect is that each print actually looks more like an original painting than a print. Wonderful quality.

This set comprises letter papers from the most famous Chinese artists of the time, including many by Qi Baishi, who also wrote the title of the book, at age 91.

A very attractive and unusual feature of this set is that the 2 volumes remain unstitched - the cover pages are present, but all the prints remain loose so are not marked with stitching holes. Front and rear covers of each volume plus 7pp Chinese text plus several blank sheets.

A fine copy overall - 64 prints appear perfect, and 7 of the prints have very small water stains to the top edge - very minor - generally a faint small semi circle (typically 10mm diameter extending into the paper about 5mm) right on the extreme edge of the paper nowhere near the image, and there is a small blue ink transfer marking on the inner slipcase at the top.

Approximate Dimensions: 320mm high x 230mm wide x 35mm deep. Each leaf 31.5cm high x 19.4cm wide.
