A very good copy of Walter S. Scott's biography of Gilbert White (1720-1793), a pioneering English naturalist and man of the Church. He was highly respected, and an influential figure in the way he studied living creatures in their environment, and noting the seasonal changes throughout the year. His work on Selborne has been in continuous print, in a multitude of different editions, since its first publication in 1789.

A very good black cloth hardback with block printed red and gold title label to spine. With light bumping to extremities. Housed in a good original dustjacket in removable clear protective plastic. Jacket with age spotting, particularly to rear and with taped repair to top part of spine on the reverse. Not price clipped. Soundly bound.

Text is bright and clean throughout, with spotting to edges of text block. Illustrated.
