A very good hardback in full sheepskin leather binding, with raised bands and red and black morocco labels, with gilt titles and lined decoration. The leather with some shelf wear and bumping, and edges of boards are worn. Despite the huge size and weight of the text block, binding is sound.
Endpapers with printed Publisher's advertisements. Bookplate to first pastedown of 'Vernon Watney' - possibly of the Watney brewing family, and a politician (1860-1928), although we cannot confirm ?
Text is in lovely condition throughout with no foxing. Text block edge with feathered marbling, now rather faded. A few pages with minor dings at text block edge.
A handsome addition to a dictionary collector's library.
