Morhof (1639-1691), was a German writer and scholar, and this work presents an encylopaedia-type exploration of philosophical and scientific learning at the time. He held University Chairs in both Poetry and History.

Published by Petri Böckmanni (Peter Böckmann), Lubecae (Lübeck), 1714. Second edition.

A good set of 2 rebacked full speckled calf leather volumes. Later spines with raised bands and red morocco labels with gilt. All soundly bound. Some wear and bumping to covers and spine labels with some cracking. Bookplate of William Adair Esq., to rear pastedowns. With previous owner's inscription to first endpapers. Both volumes have more recent blank endpapers.

Text is soundly bound. With age spotting and toning throughout, but clear and legible. With portrait frontispiece and title page also incorporating red ink. One professional tape repair to title page and following page - using near-invisible fixing. With red inkstamp 'I. Lawson' to titles. Red edges to text block.

An excellent edition to any book lover's library.
