Antony Gormley (b. 1950) is a British sculptor known for exploring the relationship between the human body and space. Trained at Cambridge and the Slade School of Fine Art, he often uses casts of his own body to create works that examine presence, movement, and our connection to the environment. Notable pieces include Angel of the North, Another Place, and Event Horizon.

Gormley's exhibition Critical Mass was held at the Musée Rodin from October 2023 to March 2024. It featured Critical Mass II, a group of sixty life-sized iron figures in various poses, arranged to evoke both harmony and disquiet. The works were placed throughout the museum and gardens, engaging in visual dialogue with Rodin’s sculptures. Gormley’s minimalist, hollow forms offered a stark contrast to Rodin’s textured realism, prompting reflection on the body as both a physical object and a site of meaning.
