Bibliothecae Apostolicae Vaticanae Codicum Manuscriptorum Catalogus in Tres Partes Distributus, in quarum prima Orientales, in altera Graeci, in tertia Latini, Italici aliorumque Europaeorum idiomatum codices.

(Catalog of the Codex Manuscripts of the Vatican Apostolic Library Distributed into Three Parts, in which the first are the Eastern, the second the Greek, the third the Latin, Italian and other European idioms), 3 Volumes Complete.

By Stephanus Evodius Assemanus, Archiepiscopus Apamensis and Joseph Simonius Assemanus, Ejusdem Biblioth. Praefectus.

Published by Librairie Orientale et Americaine, Maisonneuve Freres, Editeurs, Paris. This set is a reprint of the 1756-1759 catalogue and was issued as a numbered limited edition of 300 copies. With only 300 sets printed, and most of these being in the hands of institutional and religious libraries this is a scarce catalogue. Copyright date to title page of 1926.

This set comprises:

Tomus Primus; Unnumbered. LXXVI + 501pp. Dated to spine as 1930.

Tomus Secundus; No. 275. XXIV + 556pp. Dated to spine as 1927.

Tomus Tertius; No. 198 and signed by the Publisher. 587pp. Dated to spine as 1929.

A very good set. The books still retain their original 'glassine' protective wraps, which unsurprisingly, are now discoloured and chipped and worn. They have protected the books well which remain bright and clean throughout. The set looks unread with many of the pages still remaining uncut. Some wear to head and tails of spines. The uncut page edges are worn and toned. Very scarce to find in their original softback printed covers, as issued. Many of these books would have ended up in standard cloth library bindings.

Dimensions: Large format - each volume approximately 300mm high x 207mm wide x 35mm deep.

Text mainly in Latin.

Weight: substantial - over 5.5kg (the set), unpacked.
