The Fountain, Charles Morgan, Alfred A. Knopf, 1932
The Fountain by Charles Morgan is a reflective and psychologically nuanced novel first published in 1932. Set largely within the confined world of a prisoner of war camp, the story explores themes of time, memory and inner freedom, as its protagonist turns inward to examine the nature of experience and human resilience. Written in Morgan’s characteristically elegant and introspective style, the novel offers a thoughtful meditation on endurance and the sustaining power of the imagination.

A near fine lime green cloth hardback with printed titles to spine and front cover. Spine just very lightly sunned. Cover still crisp and clean with just very slight bumping to head and tail of spine. With its original good dustjacket. The jacket is very good - some wear to extremites, and two 1cm edge tears to the top right corner of the front cover. The jacket a little toned. Not price-clipped. Signature to lower edge of inside front flap. The dustjacket now housed in clear, removable, protective plastic.
