The Plays and Poems of William Shakespeare, edited by Thomas Keightley.
Published by Bell and Daldy, London, 1865. An uncommon edition. Printed by Chiswick Press - Whittingham and Wilkins.
A very good (approaching near fine) full leather fine binding, with gilt motif to covers and spine with elaborate gilt decals, raised bands and red morocco label. Some minor wear and markings, and bumping to corners. Feathered marbling to text block edges, with some dust toning to top edge.
Feathered marble endpapers - cracked to top 3cm at front inner joint. Features a portrait frontispiece of Shakespeare following the first folio portrait of 1623. With foxing to this page and some offsetting to title.
The text is beautifully clean throughout. Bright and all soundly bound. A few age spots now and again - but a rare occurrence.
