A scholarly early 18th century Latin edition of the first six books of Euclid’s Elements, the foundation of classical geometry. Edited and corrected by the mathematician Christian Melder, with further emendations by Jacobus Bernardus, this issue reflects the continuing importance of Euclidean studies in Enlightenment Europe. Printed at Leiden by Cornelis Boutesteyn and Samuel Luchtmann, two of the city’s leading academic publishers, this edition was aimed at the university market, providing students and teachers with a more accurate and reliable text of Euclid’s geometry.
