Memoirs of the Rival Houses of York and Lancaster, Historical and Biographical, Emma Roberts, 2 Volumes complete, 1827
Emma Roberts’ Memoirs of the Rival Houses of York and Lancaster (1827) offers a detailed narrative of late medieval English history, tracing the dynastic and political turmoil from the accession of Richard II to the end of the Wars of the Roses under Henry VII. Combining historical analysis with biographical sketches, Roberts presents a vivid and accessible account of the personalities and events that shaped the Plantagenet and early Tudor periods. This two-volume first edition reflects the growing 19th-century interest in medieval history, monarchy, and national identity, and contributes to the era’s expanding body of historical literature written by women.
