Published by Bickers and Son, Ltd, London, 1920. First edition. The contributors are all notable authors and subjects covered include, literature, history, conversation, compensation, culture, science, race and others. Each essay is preceded with a very high quality tipped in image of the author.

A good dark green hardback with gilt cover design - A presentation copy from English school; Sherborne. Presented in 1920. Presentation bookplate to inner cover, along with a contemporary (or earlier) photograph postcard of a small child. Covers a little bumped and scuffed, with some creasing, and slight give, to spine. No splitting to endpapers.

Text is bright and clean throughout and soundly bound. Some offsetting to endpapers and a small bookseller's sticker to rear pastedown. Text block edges are gilt, and still bright.
