A very good set of hardbacks with vellum spine and green cloth over boards. With gilt stamped ornamental roundel on front covers. Very mild bumping to corners and extremities. A few marks and fades to cloth covers and light soiling to vellum. Bookplate of Arthur W. Warner. Illustrated with fold-out maps. All soundly bound.

Text is very good - nice and bright throughout. Mild offsetting to endpapers. Printed on high quality Japon vellum paper stock. Partially rough cut edges as issued. A beautiful Argonaut Press limited edition, covering the travels of a Scottish sea captain, Alexander Hamilton, and his journies which include The Middle East, Africa, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia and Indonesia ('The East Indies' then defined as a much wider geographical area than today). His account was originally published in 1727.
