(Letters of unknown men. A dialogue written by opponents sifted from the dark salt of the living. Defense of John Pepericorni against famous and criminal. Letters of dark men. The Lamentations of the Dark Men of Ortuinus Gratius. Compiled in one volume.)

Published by  B.G. Teubneri, Lipsiae (B. G. Teubner, Leipzig). 1869.

This book of satirical Latin letters was first published in Germany in 1515-1519, with more letters added later. Supporting German humanist perspective, they mock scholastics and monks in the form of letters purporting to be from Christian fanatics questioning whether all Jewish works should be burned as being un-Christian or otherwise. The book was based on a real dispute between Johann Reuchlin, a German humanist and certain Dominican friars.
