A very nice copy of this biography of two remarkable Edinburgh doctors from the 19th Century. James Simpson's discovery of the use of chloroform gained him a place in medical history. James Syme was a well known Leith physician who became president of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

A near fine green cloth hardback with gilt title to spine. The dustjacket is very good, and covered with removable, clear protective plastic. Mild wear to extremities and one 2cm top edge tear to front. Not price clipped. Soundly bound.

Text is bright and clean throughout. Previous owner's ink inscription to final blank endpaper.
