A very good red cloth hardback with gilt armorials to front cover and gilt titles to spine. Some bumping and rubbing. Slightly sunned to top of front cover. Some wear to head and tail of spine. Soundly bound, with a little give. Blank free endpapers with some offsetting and spotting. 

With a portrait frontispiece of the author with his facsimile signature, with printed guard. The photogravure is of high quality by Annan & Sons, Glasgow.

Text is clean and bright throughout on a good quality paper. With some spotting to text block edges and gilt edge to top.
