A fair, slightly tired, brown cloth hardback with blind stamped decoration and gilt armorial to front and gilt title to spine. Covers shelfworn with some discoloration. Bumped to extremities. With some give in the spine. Trimmed to top edge of half title (presumably removing previous owner's details).
Text is bright and clean throughout, but binding is weak with webbing visible near the front. Imperfect, but an uncommon publication on the history of Edinburgh law enforcement. Text block dust toned.
