The Annandale Family Book of the Johnstones, Earls and Marquises of Annandale, Sir William Fraser, 1894, Inscribed by Patrick Annandale

A scarce first edition set of this family history with presentation inscription to 'David Bogie' from 'Patrick Annandale', the 11th Earl of Annandale and Hartfell, and member of the House of Lords. This is repeated in both volumes to the first free endpaper.

Also included with 2 volumes is a set of 8 House of Lords Christmas cards personally signed by Patrick Annandale. There is also an owner's inscription from 'D.B' to a free endpaper, although faded and difficult to read.

A very good set of 2 substantial red morocco leather hardbacks with gilt armorials to front and rear. Covers have been rebacked with a new cloth spine and attractive labels. All securely bound. Some corner bumping.

Text has a gilt top edge. Text is also clean and bright throughout with attractive chromolithograph plates. Endpapers a little aged with handling marks. One tissue guard with edge tear and occasional gutter reveal between gatherings, but overall a very nice example of this set of 2 scarce volumes.
