The Norton Facsimile; The First Folio of Shakepeare, Prepared by Charlton Hinman, 1996

2023 saw the 400th anniversary of the publication of the first collected works of Shakespeare. Copies of that surviving book are now so precious that few of us will ever even see an original printing, never mind owning one. This folio sized facsimile, based on Folios in the Folger collection, does at least bring us closer to the experience of that wonderful book.

A fine condition book. This substantial hardback is bound with a very smart maroon leather spine with raised bands and gilt decoration and titles. The boards are covered in a beautifully printed cloth with scenes of the Globe Theatre depicted by the River Thames in London. All soundly bound. The book is housed in a very good slipcase with printed paper over boards, with printed gilt title. Slipcase is sound, but has a few scrapes and signs of light wear.

Text is bright and clean throughout. With silk page marker ribbon.
