A good blue cloth hardback with titles to front and spine. Ex-library (Department of Education and Science; H.M. Inspectors' Library), with reference number near tail of spine, signs of label removal to first free endpaper, and stamps to blank area of title page and verso, and sticker to rear cover. The cover with light soiling and wear. Mild sunning to spine. Bookplate and bequest sticker from 'Eileen Andrews' on first pastedown, along with small bookseller's sticker. 

The text itself is bright and clean throughout. A few pages with small corner creases. All soundly bound. With portrait frontispiece of Charles and Catherine Darwin as children, 1816. Map is very good with no tears.
