Provenance: Previous owner's signature of James Paton, dated to 1937. He assisted with the analysis of auroral observations from this expedition. He later went on to become Director of the Aurora Section of the British Astronomical Association in 1952. He also served as head of the Meteorology Department at Edinburgh University from 1964, until his death in 1973.
A very good set of an uncommon set of volumes. The books themselves are maroon cloth hardbacks with gilt titles to spine. The covers have slightly faded spines, and light shelf wear, marks and rubbing. Text is bright and clean throughout and all soundly bound. Plates are in excellent condition.
