Provenance; from the library of the late William St Clair (1937 - 2021), British historian, academic and author. His signature to first pastedown with an inscription remarking that the book is the first edition as the postscript on p214 is present, which was omitted in later editions (this concerned the Elgin Marbles), and some additional pencil annotations.
